Al Shaba Taking on East Africa

Basir,FB- Al Shabab the Al Qaeda linked Somali Terrorist group has been underestimated by the international community. The recent suicide bombing in Kampala, Uganda are evident of a regional expansion of the terrorist regime.

Uganda is a major trading hub in east Africa and like the Central region of Kenya; the area is a perfect hiding zone for terrorist. Terrorist deployments in these urban areas have profound effects.

Prior to the attacks an Al Shaba leader marked Uganda’s fate, “the Ugandans are Christian crusaders who have invaded our land and violated the honour of our people”. This was delivered after an Al Shaba attack on African Union forces in Somalia. Burundi, which has over 2,000 soldiers deployed in Somalia, is also a target for revenge.

Al Shaba has already extended its intimidation in Kenya and has executed insidious violence. For some reason U.S. news sources are claiming that the Kampala attack was the first Al Shabab fatal operation outside of Somalia.  Just in May of this year there was an attack by gunmen in the town Liboi, Kenya. This was the third report of Al Shabab violence in Liboi this year alone.

Al Shabab leaders have promised that Sunday’s attacks were “only the begining”. Nevertheless, Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni is determined to host the upcoming African Union summit. Museveni is also has ambitions for increasing the AU forces to 20,000 troops.
